Really Just Ribbons

A quick pictorial diary of lily's day

10 am:

Tom's preschool room was have in a party on thursday afternoon for childrens week - and the theme was RED!!!  So I volunteered to make red cupcakes with red icing.  By 'I' I mean myself and my trusty assistant Lily.

After running around the house madly, hyped up on all the red food colouring - this was the result

After a big nap, and a grumpy wake up, we get dressed to go down the street and then go pick up tom from daycare.  Please note the brand new sandals bought that morning, teamed with what lily insisted is an essential accessory for sandals - socks.  Gorgeous dress, piggy tails in hair, Thomas the Tank engine undies, and sandals with socks = typical 2 yo

School photo time again...

I know it is still a novelty to me at the moment but I just love photo time every year  (and yes I am aware that I have at least 15 more years of this ahead of me!).  I especially love that the photographer they get at Tom and Lily's Daycare does candid shots as opposed to posed shots in front of fake background (and I don't mean any offense  to anyone with those shots) - I just think it is easier for their true self to show through IYKWIM?

I just love this one of Tom - a good natural happy face - makes me smile every time I look at it.

And this one of Lily just makes me laugh and shake my head....

Phew!

Wow - what a mighty 1 1/2 weeks it has been!  I have been so busy, right up until last night and today has been the first full day at home in the last 10 days or so.  Boy have I come down with a thump!!  I got to have a sleep in (thanks jeff :)  ) and I also had a nanna nap this afternoon as well !  And I reckon I will still just about beat the kids to bed tonight......

A huge thanks to all those that left a comment about the layout I needed help with.  I have put everybodies name into a hat and left up to my trusty assistants to pull a name out.  Drumroll please....... congratulations......

Amie!!!  Your pack of goodies will be popped in the mail ASAP (or rather - as soon as I take a photo of it!)

I know I initially said I had 1pack of goodies to give away but after seeing the sheer number of comments I decided to throw in another one - a bit of a christmas combo containing some of our new chrissy ribbons and an OTP Christmas hanger.  And this little pack of goodies goes to......

I have a few photos from Tasmania to show, but first I just have to share with you a bit of a glimpse of our new Xmas ribbons that just arrived last week.  How stunning are these??!!  We also have this starry-edged ribbon in white)

This last one is called the Snowdrop ribbon, and doesn't show up that well in the photos.  It is actually 35 mm wide with tiny little cotton puff balls(for want of a better description) along each edge.  Very santa-esque and ideal for any christmas project.

The rest of the Christmas ribbons can be seen here - with a couple more to be added over the next few days.

Tasmania was fantastic - how could it not be really??? Catching up with some good friends, fantastic food and wine and gorgeous scenery - what more could we want?  This first photo is one of the views from the balcony of our cabin at Rosevears Estate.  I was trying to get one of those arty sort of shots and this was the best I could do!

And here is a shot from a lookout which is somewhere between Launceston and Beauty Point (can't remember the name of the actual location).

I am going to have to sign off now, as this post has taken me a whole day to write believe it or not! I started on Sunday and it is now Monday morning and I have a pile of things to do.  Though for some reason, having to get up at 5:30am when Lily wakes tends to give a bit more time to get things accomplished - bring on daylight savings!!!

Help!

I am in a scrapping dilemma -and I want   need help!!! I am half way through scrapping a photo of my mother and father when they were young.  As you can see below it is a B&W photo, and I have used a few shabby-type papers and scroll.  I am very happy with the look of it so far, but am stuck and can go no further!

I need journalling or a title, and I am not sure what style or wording to go ahead with? What products to use? Handwritten or computer printed? What colours?

All you scrappers out there with kids would know just how hard it is to scrap anything else other than your kids don't you? ( I am positive it isn't just me!) Hence a little help is needed to push me on my way or this is bound to be relegated to the 'I must finish that one day' pile.

Mum I need your input here as well - please leave a comment and tell me when and where this photo was taken, circumstances, what year etc please?

So anybody and everybody - please give me a hand and leave a comment or a suggestion please!  And just to sweeten it up just a tad, everybody who leaves a comment will have their name put into a hat to go into the running to win a goody bag of scrapping gear - I will update with a photo of stash of goodies when I get back from Tasmania at the start of next week - I have simply run out of time to get that together.

Yes - you read correctly - TASMANIA!!!! We are going down for the weekend to a friends wedding and can't wait!  Flying down from Sydney on Friday morning (we are driving up to Sydney tomorrow, and Jeffs parents have come up to look after the kids here)  I am so excited - I have been to Tassie once before about 9-10yrs ago.  It is going to be a lovely wedding too as they are a fantastic couple and very well suited to each other.

I am off now to recharge the battery on my camera - I am planning on giving it a real work out this weekend!

A pictorial diary of our weekend

I won't bore you with my babbling on - its been a lovely weekend and I just thought I would share with you a few photos to show you what we have been up to...

Friday afternoon saw Tom and I bake some really yummy cupcakes (please note the almost equal ration of cupcake to icing - perfect!).  I was hoping to be able to take an arty shot of them but I found it just a tad difficult with 4 hungry animals baying for food (the 4 being - Tom, Lily, Jeff and Rockstar the cat)

Lily has discovered the swimming goggles and has decided that they are this season's latest fashion accessory....

Our Bottlebrush on the front lawn is just starting to flower - only a few flowers at the moment (plenty of bees though) but I reckon give it a week and it will be a blaze of red - must remember to charge my camera batteries to capture it.

This is where Rockstar spent most of the weekend - I suppose he thought 'out of sight, out of mind'.  But obviously he didn't reckon on a 2yr old hitting upon the idea of using the outside of his cat cave as a drum.  I must invest in some cat panadol for the poor little fella.

And just two more photos from Thursday morning before I took the kids to Daycare for the day.  Lily insisted on carrying her bag on her back like a big girl, and with the hair in piggy tails I just couldn't resist.  But do you think she would let me get a good shot??????

And the last photo of the day has yet to be taken - we went to a fete today and tom got his hair spray painted red.  Actually he had a lucky day at the fete, as he had been saying on friday that he wanted to make a kite and fly it, and today he actually got one in a lucky dip!  Then yesterday he said he wanted to go the hairdressers and change the colour of his hair to black or any other colour!!!!! Luckily this was mid afternoon and I was able to put him off with the truth, saying all the hairdressers were closed.  Lo and behold, imagine his happiness when they were doing crazy hair colours at the fete!!  I will post the red hair pic tonight if I remember to take it !

Any way, that is enough for me - I have a tonne of work to do whilst the house is quite - Lily is asleep and Jeff and Tom are out flying a $2 kite!

"Grace" Shelf Sitter:

For personalised journalling strips treat ribbon with Ribbon Stiff. When dry, print your journalling on to plain CS first. Use repositionable tape to adhere ribbon directly over the printed journalling (ensure that ends are secure) before running through the printer again.

Talent Galore

These girls need no further introduction do they?  They show their talent month after month, each and everyone showing unique uses of the Really Just Ribbon products they are given.  How lucky am I to have these girls?!!

The girls were given a bit of a mixed bag this month

- Bella Large White Silk Flowers
- Kaiser bling
- and Bella Ribbon cards, each containing 5 different ribbons.  Deirdre and Toni were given the Starry Eyed Ribbon set, and Pippa and Shazz received the Sweet Princess set (both can be seen below)

The September Design Team pack will be up on the site tomorrow at 10% off the RRP.

These first two layouts are by Deirdre  - talented gal that she is - I love the way she has used the bling in a straight line almost as if mimicing a ribbon.  And check out the bead filled Alphabets!  Makes me want to stock beads........ mmmmmm......... interesting.......

Next comes Pippa's work and her daughters adorable blue eyes.

Pippa has brought out the good ol' RibbonStiff ( I can't rave about this product enough - sooooo versatile) - see the pink ribbon towards the bottom of the layout?  Just try doing that WITHOUT RibbonStiff!!

"Love" Altered Mini Canvas:

Ribbon Stiff works on fabic and paper too!!! Here I have applied Ribbon Stiff to the paper and felt flower die cuts. While drying, I folded the petals up. When dry, I layered them together. Voila! Beautiful layered flowers that stay stiff and in position.

I love Toni's classic style in this 'Bond' LO.   She has cut out a heart shape and used it as a template and placed the bling all around the outside to give the lovely double heart silouhette.  The Kaiser Bling is self adhesive but has just enough give in it to allow you to move it into the exact position need before setting permantely.

(Before I forget - we have the Gold Kaiser Bling coming very shortly!!!)

You just can't go wrong with these gorgeous big flowers.

Oooohhhh! RibbonStiff again - seriously great stuff as can be seen by Shazz's gorgeous card - the petals have been 'Stiffed' and have bling in the centre.  And check out the handstitching - a girl after my own heart!

The large Bella Flowers come in packs of 10 for just $3 so they are great value.  They can either be used singulary or layered upon each other for a more full effect. 

I know I promised the rest of my own layouts but I think this post is long enough as it is with out me blathering on about my own work!  I will be back over the next few days with my lo's, as well as one that I need help with, so get your thinking caps on and be in the running to win a little goodie pack in the process.
